Some 40,000 people went at Naval Air Station Hyères on 13 June 2010 to watch the French Naval Aviation Centenary Airshow. Some 20,000 people were around the base as well
The French Naval Aviation was born in 1910, when a Farman biplane was bought and its first pilot was qualified. Since 100 years, the "Flying Sailors" have been operating daily from the air, land or at sea from ships.
Some 110 foreign and French aircraft and helicopters took part to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the French Naval Aviation.
Meanwhile some ships were moored in the bay of Hyères:

The 50.S flight was born on 1 January 1946 and is based at NAS Lanvéoc-Poulmic where it provides basic flight training, selection and initiation for French Navy Academy and future pilots with 7 CAP.10B et 9 MS.880 Rallye.
